From the Margins to the Table: Holding Space for Diverse Strategists

In the public and non-profit sectors, there is a growing push for more diversity and representation. However, representation must go beyond entry-level roles or surface-level diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. We need diverse voices where they matter most—at the leadership table, especially in shaping strategy.

Strategic Planning, anyone?

When was the last time you looked at your organization’s strategic plan? If this is something your leaders and Board work on every 3-5 years, then it is a document sitting in a folder somewhere – perhaps even a poster in the Boardroom.

It is imperative to have a common vision for the organization with a plan for what lies ahead. Having an effective strategic plan that is measurable and actionable is also key. We have worked with many clients in the healthcare, home care, community services and human services sectors to build their strategic plans. Reach out for more information.

Preparing for OHTs

We worked with our provincial home care client to prepare for the changing provincial landscape. Ground in McMaster’s RISE approach, we identified priority populations for the relevant Ontario Health Teams (OHTs) and assessed the organization against the eight building blocks, with a plan to build maturity over time.

Wall of sticky notes, Establishing a Paediatric Complex Care Clinic

Establishing a Paediatric Complex Care Clinic

This collaborative project included a well known paediatric hospital, the local children’s rehabilitation centre, local acute care hospital, and other partners. The goal was to establish a local complex care clinic to bring specialized care closer to home. This partnership project involved project management, and journey mapping that was designed with family and caregiver input.

Scheduling software or an HRIS system?

This project involved a human services client that worked with a paper and excel based scheduling system that led to several payroll manual processes and subsequent errors. Understanding the current state led to the discovery of the need for a comprehensive Human Resource Information System (HRIS) that could offer interoperability with their financial software. A true onion that led to building out an optimal future state that understood the full scope of needs and improvements.

Adolescent Transition Program

Working with a team of internal participants, adults with complex disabilities and organizational leaders; this transition  program was set up to help bridge the gap between paediatric and adult services in a local region.

Provincial Advocacy Plan

We worked with a small volunteer-driven provincial organization to build an advocacy plan through extensive consultation with members, key partners and ministry representatives.
